AR AIMS opens doors for all middle and high school students in Arkansas to reach their academic potential by offering premier teacher training and support to ensure teachers become more effective.
2023-24 AR AIMS Mission:
- To provide mentoring support and professional development with resources for teachers of Advanced Placement and teachers of grades 6-10 advanced (accelerated), on-level math, science, and English
- To increase student enrollment and prepare all students for Advanced Placement and accelerated classes, college success, post-secondary training, and STEM careers by providing teacher support and training
- To support adequate, rigorous preparation and academic success for all students, but especially to meet the needs of the gifted learner
2023-24 AR AIMS Goals
- To increase the number of students in grades 6-12 enrolled in and prepared for advanced/accelerated and Advanced Placement courses in math, science, and English
- To increase the number of students producing scores of 3 or better on Advanced Placement math, science, and English exams
- To improve the participation of and reduce the performance gap in AP/concurrent and advanced/accelerated classes for students from underrepresented populations
- To assist Arkansas high/middle/junior high schools develop strong, successful advanced/accelerated and Advanced Placement programs
- To equip teachers to facilitate and implement advanced instructional methods and strategies as a means of increasing student achievement and better prepare all students for college and career
- To provide quality professional development and challenging curriculum resources to enable teachers to achieve these goals for their students
